Wine glasses overlooking the vineyards at Sierra Vista Winery in Placerville

Wine Tasting Stop on the Way to Lake Tahoe

Traveling Highway 50 between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe? Make Sierra Vista Winery in Placerville part of your trip. Our estate is approximately 15 minutes off Highway 50, offering a place to stretch your legs, enjoy freshly prepared food and explore El Dorado County wines surrounded by rolling vineyards and Sierra Nevada views.

A Wine Country Break Along Highway 50

Our estate vineyards were first planted in 1974, making Sierra Vista one of El Dorado County’s original wineries. Discover 12 estate wines grown, produced and bottled on site, with our tasting room team helping you explore the wines and find your favorites.

Relax outdoors overlooking acres of vineyards or settle into our indoor dining room with mountain views. Whether you’re heading to Tahoe or returning from a mountain getaway, plan enough time to enjoy the estate beyond a quick roadside stop.

Pizza, Sunday Brunch and Vineyard Views

Our on-site chef prepares fresh pizza and other menu favorites Wednesday through Sunday. Traveling on Sunday? Join us for brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. before continuing your journey.

Food is available to purchase separately. Please leave outside food and beverages at home, and arrange a designated driver if your visit includes wine tasting.

Plan Your Stop from South Lake Tahoe

Sierra Vista Winery is in Placerville, California—not at Lake Tahoe. If you’re traveling west from South Lake Tahoe on Highway 50, use our directions link to plan the detour to 4560 Cabernet Way, Placerville, CA 95667.

Check current tasting room hours and our food menu before setting out. Allow extra travel time when mountain weather or traffic affects your route. For travelers using Interstate 80 to reach North Lake Tahoe, visiting Sierra Vista requires a separate route rather than a stop along that highway.

Make It an Event
