Spring has sprung at Sierra Vista! This is no more evident than in the vineyards right now. We experienced bud-break right around St. Patrick’s Day which is in the realm of normalcy for our typical growing cycle. As we are sitting now at the end of march, the new shoots are all bright green, and nearing a foot tall. The grasses and cover crops in the vines are all growing like weeds as well. There’s new growth everywhere you look. With warm temperatures forecasted for the month of April we are optimistic that we might have made it through window of frost risk unscathed this year. As always, we will be keeping our fingers crossed until June. Another fun vineyard sighting this time of year is the wildflowers that pop up in the vineyard, as well as the roses around the winery. If you’re looking for a nice backdrop to a spring family photo shoot the vineyards just might be the spot.
